Six individuals, two of whom were pregnant, contracted the Zika virus in Pune on July 1. There were two cases in the Mundhwa neighborhood and four in the Erandwane part of the city.

An infected Aedes mosquito, which is also known to transmit dengue and chikungunya, bites a person with the virus. In 1947, the virus was originally discovered in Uganda. The Zika virus has the potential to cause microcephaly in expectant mothers, a condition in which the fetus has improper brain development and has a noticeably smaller head.

In its recommendation, the Union Health Ministry stated that pregnant women with Zika infection should not be lenient when it comes to monitoring their fetuses. Continue monitoring by keeping an eye on the fetus’s growth in pregnant women who test positive for Zika. In Pune, Maharashtra, a 55-year-old woman has been found to have the Zika virus. As a result, there are now seven victims of this fatal illness in the city. This information was provided by health officials on Tuesday. Six persons in Pune were verified to have contracted the Zika virus as of Monday, according to officials, two of whom were pregnant.

The woman’s report was favorable.

According to a Pune Municipal Corporation representative, the most recent incidence originated at Dahanukar Colony in Kothurd, where the victim reported experiencing joint discomfort and body rashes. It was confirmed by the study released on Monday that she had contracted the Zika virus. He stated that the woman doesn’t currently need to be hospitalized because her health is good. The two ladies who have contracted the Zika virus are 28 and 35 years old, respectively, according to the official. Due to the inadequate development of the brain, pregnant women who contract the Zika virus may give birth to a fetus with a small head. According to officials, the first Zika Irandwane was the source of infection in Pune. after it was determined that a 46-year-old physician was afflicted. He added that an infection was also discovered in the doctor’s 15-year-old daughter. Through the bite of an infected Aedes mosquito, the Zika virus infection is transmitted.
