According to the advise, states have also been requested to step up vector control efforts and entomological surveillance in residential areas, businesses, schools, institutions, and healthcare facilities.
Six individuals, two of whom were pregnant, contracted the Zika virus in Pune on July 1. There were two cases in the Mundhwa neighborhood and four in the Erandwane part of the city.
An infected Aedes mosquito, which is also known to transmit dengue and chikungunya, bites a person with the virus. In 1947, the virus was originally discovered in Uganda. The Zika virus has the potential to cause microcephaly in expectant mothers, a condition in which the fetus has improper brain development and has a noticeably smaller head.
